"We Care We Share Ministries" is an outreach program started and funded by the Amherst Church of Christ. We are currently working on our non-profit (501 C3) status.

Our free Food Pantry opened in April 2007. We served 66 families (184 individuals) in our first month. We now serve over 400 families (over 1400 individuals) per month. We distributed approximately 100,000 pounds of food in 2008. The need to provide food in our community continues to increase every month.

Our free Clothing Closet opened in May 2007. We provide clothes, shoes, and coats for all ages. We have also provided blankets and tarps for those in need. We serve 400-500 people every month. This need is also increasing.

We started a free Tax Service (VITA) in January 2008. We provided this service to low and middle income families. We will again offer this program for the current tax season and we are preparing for a significant increase in the number of people who will need this service.

We started a free Monthly Meal in March 2008. This meal is open to anyone who would like to attend. Currently, we serve approximately 300 people each month. Please consider this an invitation to join us.

While our services are provided to anyone in need in Lorain County, we are aware that South Lorain is an area that has been hit hard by economic downturns and the need is great for the people who live in the area. We are outgrowing our temporary space and would like a permanent location in South Lorain in order to continue to provide these much needed services.

We also work with other local agencies such as N.H.A., Boys and Girls Club, Lorain County AIDS Task Force, Gathering Hope House, and El Dorado in an effort to provide a greater level of service in the community.

We are funded by donations and greatly appreciate the support we receive from individuals, businesses and corporations.
